Prayer Before Reciting Sefer Tehillim - Tehillim translated into english
Prayer before Tehillim on a Weekday
May it be the will before You, Hashem, our G-d, and the G-d of our forefathers, Who chose David His servant and his offspring after him, and Who chose songs and praises - that you attend with mercy to the recitation of psalms that I shall merit and consider it as if they were recited by King David, of blessed memory, himself, may his merit be a shield over us. And stand in our favor may the merit of the verses of the psalms together with the merit of their words and their letters and their vowels and their cantilations, and together with the Holy Names that are formed from them, from the initial (letters) of the words and from the final (letters) of the words - may their merit serve to bring atonement for our transgressions, iniquities, and sins, and to cut down ruthless men, and slash away all the thorns and briars which surround the Rose, Celestial; and to unite the Bride of Youth with her Beloved in love, brotherhood, and companionship. And from that (unification) may be drawn to us an abundant blessing to our spirit, breath and soul, to purify us of our iniquities, to forgive our sins and to atone for our transgressions, just as You forgave David who recited these very same psalms before You - as it is said: Hashem also has forgiven your sin, you shall not die. May you not take us from This World before our time, until the completion of our years, (among them are seventy years,) in a manner that we be able to rectify anything that we have ruined. May the merit of King David, of blessed memory, shield over us and for us; that You may be patient (with us), (and wait) until we return to You in repentance that is complete before You. From your treasury of grace that is undeserved, be gracious to us - as it is written: I am Compassionate to those whom I favor, and I am Merciful to those upon whom I have mercy. And just as we recite before You a song in This World, so let us merit to recite before You - O Hashem, our G-d - songs and praises in the World to Come. And through the recitation of the psalms arouse the Rose of Sharon to sing with a voice that is pleasant, with ecstasy and joy. May the glory of the Levanon be given to her, majesty and splendor in the House of our G-d, speedily in our days. Amein. Selah!
Before Saying Tehillim it is customary to say these Three Verses
Come! Let us sing joyfully to Hashem, let us call out to the Rock of our Salvation,
Let us greet Him with thanksgiving, with praiseful songs let us call out to Him.
For a great G-d is Hashem, and a great King above all heavenly powers.
Psalm 42 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, A Maskil, for the sons of Korah.
2. As the deer longs for water streams, so does my soul long for you, O God.
3. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?
4. My tears have been my bread day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is your God?
5. When I remember these things, I pour out my soul; how I went with the multitude, leading them in procession to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a crowd keeping the festival.
6. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him for the help of his countenance.
7. O my God, my soul is cast down within me, because I remember you from the land of the Jordan, and the Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
8. Deep calls to deep at the noise of your cataracts; all your waves and your billows have gone over me.
9. By day the Lord will command his loving kindness, and in the night his song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
10. I will say to God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
11. Like a deadly wound in my bones, my enemies taunt me; while they say daily to me, Where is your God?
12. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 43 - Tehillim translated into english
1. Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; O save me from the deceitful and unjust man.
2. For you are the God of my strength; why do you cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
3. O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, and to your dwelling places.
4. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my great joy; and I will praise you with the lyre, O God my God.
5. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 44 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Maskil.
2. We have heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the times of old;
3. How you drove out the nations with your hand, but planted them; how you afflicted the people, and cast them out.
4. For they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your countenance, because you did favorably accept them.
5. You are my King, O God; command deliverance for Jacob.
6. Through you we will push down our enemies; through your name we will trample down those who rise up against us.
7. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me.
8. But you have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hate us.
9. In God we have gloried all the day long, and we praise your name for ever. Selah.
10. But you have cast off, and put us to shame; and you do not go forth with our armies.
11. You make us turn back from the enemy; and those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
12. You have given us like sheep to be eaten; and have scattered us among the nations.
13. You sell your people for nothing, and you do not ask for a high price.
14. You make us a taunt to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those who are around us.
15. You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.
16. My confusion is before me all day, and the shame of my face has covered me,
17. Because of the voice of him who taunts and blasphemes; because of the enemy and avenger.
18. All this has come upon us; yet we have not forgotten you, nor have we been false to your covenant.
19. Our heart is not turned back, nor have our steps departed from your way;
20. Though you have crushed us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
21. If we had forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
22. Would not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
23. But for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
24. Awake, why do you sleep, O Lord? Arise, do not cast us off for ever.
25. Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
26. For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaves to the earth.
27. Arise for our help, and redeem us for the sake of your loving kindness.
Psalm 45 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, according to Shoshannim, A Maskil for the sons of Korah; A song of loves.
2. My heart overflows with a goodly theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a fast writer.
3. You are the fairest of the sons of men; loving kindness is poured into your lips; therefore God has blessed you for ever.
4. Gird your sword upon your thigh, O most mighty, with your glory and your majesty.
5. And in your majesty ride prosperously on in the cause of truth and for the sake of righteousness; and let your right hand teach you awesome things.
6. Your arrows are sharp; the peoples fall under you; they sink into the heart of the enemies of the king.
7. Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever; the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.
8. You love righteousness, and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.
9. All your garments are fragrant with myrrh, and aloes, and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad.
10. Daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.
11. Listen, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear; forget your own people, and your father’s house;
12. And the king shall desire your beauty; bow to him because he is your lord.
13. And O daughter of Tyre, the rich among the people shall entreat your favor with a gift.
14. The daughter of the king is all glorious within; her clothing is of embroidered gold.
15. She shall be brought to the king in embroidered garments; the virgins, her companions, who follow her, shall be brought to you.
16. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.
17. Instead of your fathers shall be your children, whom you shall make princes in all the earth.
18. I will make your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore the peoples shall praise you for ever and ever.
Psalm 46 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song according to Alamoth.
2. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
3. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
4. Tough its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains shake with their swelling. Selah.
5. There is a river, whose streams make glad the city of God, the holiest dwelling place of the most High.
6. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her before morning. 7. Nations rage, kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
8. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
9. Come, behold the works of the Lord, the desolations that he has made in the earth.
10. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the chariot in the fire.
11. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
12. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Psalm 47 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
2. O clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with the voice of triumph.
3. For the Lord most high is awesome; he is a great King over all the earth.
4. He subdues peoples under us, and nations under our feet.
5. He chooses our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah.
6. God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a shofar.
7. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
8. For God is the King of all the earth; sing a Maskil psalm.
9. God reigns over the nations; God sits on the throne of his holiness.
10. The nobles of the peoples are gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.
Psalm 48 - Tehillim translated into english
1. A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.
2. Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised in the city of our God. The mountain of his holiness,
3. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
4. God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
5. For, behold, the kings were assembled, they came on together.
6. As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were frightened; they fled away.
7. Fear took hold of them there, and pain, like a woman in labor.
8. You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
9. As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it for ever. Selah.
10. We have thought of your loving kindness, O God, in the midst of your temple.
11. According to your name, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.
12. Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of your judgments.
13. Walk about Zion, and go around her; count her towers.
14. Mark well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that you may tell it to the following generation,
15. That this is God, our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide till death.
Psalm 49 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
2. Hear this all you peoples; give ear, all you inhabitants of the world;
3. Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
4. My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
5. I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my riddle to the lyre.
6. Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me?
7. Those who trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
8. None of them can by any means ransom his brother, nor give to God a price for him;
9. For the ransom of their soul is costly, and it ceases for ever;
10. That he might still live for ever, and not see the pit.
11. For when he sees that wise men die, that the fool and the stupid alike perish, and leave their wealth to others,
12. Their inward thought is that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
13. Nevertheless man does not abide in honor; he is like the beasts that perish.
14. This is their way in their folly; yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
15. Like sheep they are appointed to Sheol; death shall be their shepherd;and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form shall waste away in Sheol, leaving behind their dwelling.
16. But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol; for he shall receive me. Selah.
17. Do not be afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
18. For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; his glory shall not go down after him.
19. Though while he lives he blesses his soul; and though men will praise you when you do well for yourself.
20. He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
21. Man who is in honor, and does not understands, is like the beasts that perish.
Psalm 50 - Tehillim translated into english
1. A Psalm of Asaph. The mighty God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
2. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.
3. Our God comes, and does not keep silence; a fire devours before him, and there is a mighty tempest around him.
4. He calls to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
5. Gather my pious ones together to me; those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
6. And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; for God is judge himself. Selah.
7. Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God.
8. I will not reprove you for your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9. I will accept no bull from your house, nor male goats from your folds.
10. For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand mountains.
11. I know all the birds of the mountains; and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12. If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is mine, and all that fills it.
13. Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14. Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High;
15. And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will save you, and you shall glorify me.
16. But to the wicked man God says, What right have to you to declare my statutes, or to take my covenant in your mouth?
17. For you hate instruction, and cast my words behind you.
18. If you see a thief, you consort with him, and you keep company with adulterers.
19. You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
20. You sit and speak against your brother; you slander the son of your own mother.
21. You have done these things, and I have kept silence; you thought that I was one like yourself; but I will rebuke you and set the matter before your eyes.
22. Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to save.
23. Whoever offers praise glorifies me; and to him who orders his way aright I will show the salvation of God.
Psalm 51 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David,
2. When Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
3. Be gracious to me, O God, according to your loving kindness; according to the multitude of your mercies blot out my transgressions.
4. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
5. For I acknowledge my transgressions; and my sin is always before me.
6. Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight; so that you are justified in your sentence, and clear in your judgment.
7. Behold, I was shaped in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.
8. Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts; therefore teach me wisdom in the inmost heart.
9. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
10. Let me hear joy and gladness; that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.
11. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
12. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a constant spirit inside me.
13. Do not cast me away from your presence; and do not take your holy spirit from me.
14. Restore to me the joy of your salvation; and uphold me with a willing spirit.
15. Then I will teach transgressors your ways; and sinners shall return to you.
16. Save me from bloodguiltiness, O God, you God of my salvation; and my tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
17. O Lord, open you my lips; and my mouth shall declare your praise.
18. For you do not desire sacrifice; or else would I give it; you do not delight in burnt offering.
19. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
20. Do good in your good will to Zion; build the walls of Jerusalem.
21. Then shall you be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering; then shall they offer bulls upon your altar.
Psalm 52 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, A Maskil of David.
2. When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said to him, David has come to the house of Ahimelech.
3. Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The love of God lasts for all time.
4. Your tongue devises mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
5. You love evil more than good; and lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah.
6. You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.
7. God shall likewise destroy you for ever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
8. And the righteous shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him;
9. Behold, this is the man who did not make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
10. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the love of God for ever and ever.
11. I will give you thanks for ever, because you have done it; and I will wait on your name, for it is good, before your pious ones.
Psalm 53 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician according to Mahalath, A Maskil of David.
2. The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that does good.
3. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any who understand, who seek God.
4. They have all fallen away; they have all become filthy; there is no one who does good, not even one.
5. Have the evil doers no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread? Do they not call upon God?
6. There were they in great fear, where no fear was; for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you; you have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.
7. Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back the exile of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalm 54 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician for stringed instruments, A Maskil of David,
2. When the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Does not David hide himself with us?
3. Save me, O God, by your name, and judge me by your strength.
4. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
5. For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul; they have not set God before them. Selah.
6. Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is with those who uphold my soul.
7. He rewards evil to my enemies. O, cut them off in your truth!
8. I will sacrifice a free will offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord; for it is good.
9. For he has saved me from every trouble; and my eye has gazed upon my enemies.
Psalm 55 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician for stringed instruments, A Maskil of David.
2. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and do not hide yourself from my supplication.
3. Attend to me, and answer me; I sob in my complaint, and moan,
4. Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
5. My heart inside me is in anguish; and the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
6. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me.
7. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then I would fly away, and be at rest.
8. Behold, then I would wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
9. I would hasten to find a refuge from the windy storm and the tempest.
10. Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
11. Day and night they go about it upon its walls; and mischief and trouble are in its midst.
12. Wickedness is in its midst; oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets.
13. For it was not an enemy who taunted me; then I could have borne it; nor was it one who hated me who magnified himself against me; then I could hide from him,
14. But it was you, a man my equal, my companion, my close friend.
15. We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in company.
16. Let death spread its oblivion upon them, and let them go down alive into Sheol; for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
17. As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
18. Evening, and morning, and at noon, I pray, and cry aloud; and he hears my voice.
19. He has saved my soul in peace from the battle that was against me; for there were many who strove against me.
20. God, who is enthroned from old, shall hear, and afflict them. Selah. Because they do not change, and do not fear God.
21. He has put forth his hands against those who are at peace with him; he has broken his covenant.
22. The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
23. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain you; he shall never let the righteous be moved.
24. But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction; bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in you.
Psalm 56 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, according to Jonat-helem-rechokim, A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.
2. Be gracious to me, O God, for men long to swallow me up; all day long the warrior oppresses me.
3. My enemies daily long to swallow me up; for they are many who fight against me, O you most High.
4. When I am afraid, I will trust in you,
5. In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
6. Every day they wrest my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.
7. They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, as they wait for my soul.
8. Shall they escape by iniquity? In your anger cast down the peoples, O God.
9. You have kept count of my wanderings; put my tears into your bottle. Are they not in your book?
10. When I cry to you, then shall my enemies turn back; this I know, because God is for me.
11. In God, whose word I praise; in the Lord, whose word I praise,
12. In God have I put my trust; I will not be afraid. What man can do to me?
13. Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.
14. For you have saved my soul from death, indeed my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
Psalm 57 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.
2. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, for my soul trusts in you; and in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until calamities have passed over.
3. I will cry to God most high; to God who performs all things for me.
4. He shall send from heaven, and save me; he scorns him who would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his loving kindness and his truth.
5. My soul is among lions; and I lie down among those who are set on fire, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
6. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth.
7. They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down; they dug a pit before me, and into its midst they have fallen themselves. Selah.
8. My heart is constant, O God, my heart is constant; I will sing and give praise.
9. Awake up, O my glory! Awake, O lyre and harp! I will awake the dawn!
10. I will praise you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to you among the nations.
11. For your loving kindness is great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds.
12. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth.
Psalm 58 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Miktam of David.
2. Do you indeed decree what is right? Do you judge uprightly, O you sons of men?
3. But in your hearts you work wickedness; your hands deal out violence on the earth.
4. The wicked go astray from the womb; they err from birth speaking lies.
5. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder that stops its ear;
6. Which will not listen to the voice of charmers, or of the cunning enchanter.
7. Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth; break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord.
8. Let them melt away like waters which run continually; when he aims his arrows, let them be as if cut in pieces.
9. Like the slimy track of a snail which disappears; like the untimely births of a woman that do not see the sun.
10. Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall sweep them away as with a whirlwind, both the green and the burning.
11. The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
12. So that a man shall say, Truly there is a reward for the righteous; truly there is a God who judges on earth.
Psalm 59 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Miktam of David; when Saul sent,
2. and they watched the house to kill him. Save me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me.
3. Save me from the evil doers, and save me from bloody men.
4. For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul; fierce men are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
5. They run and prepare themselves for no fault of mine; awake to help me, and behold.
6. You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations; do not be merciful to any wicked traitors. Selah.
7. They return at evening; they howl like dogs, and go prowling around the city.
8. Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for Who hears?, say they.
9. But you, O Lord, shall laugh at them; you shall have all the nations in derision.
10. O my strength, upon you I will wait! For God is my fortress.
11. God who loves me shall come to meet me; God shall let me gaze upon my enemies.
12. Do not slay them, lest my people forget; scatter them by your power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
13. For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them be taken in their arrogance; and for cursing and lying which they speak.
14. Consume them in wrath, consume them, till they are no more; and let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah.
15. And at evening let them return; and let them howl like a dog, and go prowling around the city.
16. Let them wander up and down for food, and growl if they do not get their fill.
17. But I will sing of your power; indeed, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning; for you have been my fortress and my refuge in the day of my trouble.
18. To you, O my strength, I will sing; for God is my fortress, and the God who loves me.

3. O God, you have cast us off, you have scattered us, you have been angry; O turn yourself to us again.
4. You have made the earth tremble; you have broken it; heal its breaches; for it totters.
5. You have shown your people hard things; you have made us drink the wine of staggering.
6. You have given a banner to those who fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
7. That your beloved ones may be saved; save with your right hand, and answer me.
8. God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the Valley of Succoth.
9. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of my head; Judah is my scepter;
10. Moab is my washbasin; over Edom I will cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.
11. Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
12. Have you not rejected us, O God, so that you do not go forth with our armies?
13. Give us help against the enemy; for vain is the help of man.
14. Through God we shall do bravely; for he it is who shall trample down our enemies.

2. Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer.
3. From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is too high for me.
4. For you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower against the enemy.
5. I will abide in your tent for ever; I will trust in the shelter of your wings. Selah.
6. For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
7. Prolong the king’s life; may his years be as many generations.
8. May he be enthroned before God for ever; O appoint love and truth, that they may preserve him.
9. So I will sing praise to your name for ever, as I daily perform my vows.

2. My soul waits in silence only for God; from him comes my salvation.
3. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I shall not be greatly moved.
4. How long will you seek to overwhelm a man? You will be, all of you, demolished like a leaning wall, or a tottering fence.
5. They even plot to cast him down from his majesty; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
6. My soul waits only for God in silence; for my hope is from him.
7. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my refuge; I shall not be moved.
8. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.
9. Trust in him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
10. Surely men of low estate are but a breath, and men of high estate are a lie; to be laid in the scales, they are altogether lighter than a breath.
11. Do not trust in oppression, and become not vain in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
12. God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs to God.
13. And to you, O Lord, belongs loving kindness; for you render to every man according to his work.

3. To see your power and your glory, as I have seen you in the sanctuary.
4. Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you.
5. Thus I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name.
6. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips;
7. When upon my bed I remember you, and meditate on you in the watches of the night.
8. Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.
9. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
10. But those who seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
11. They shall be given over to the sword; they shall be a prey for foxes.
12. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one who swears by him shall glory; but the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.

7. Who by his strength has established the mountains; being girded with power;
8. Who stills the noise of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples.
9. And those who dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid of your signs; you make the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
10. You visit the earth, and water it; you greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water; you provide their grain, for you have prepared it.
11. You water her furrows abundantly; you settle her ridges; you make it soft with showers; you bless its growth.
12. You crown the year with your goodness; and your paths drop fatness.

4. All the earth will prostrate themselves to You and sing praises to You; they will sing praises to Your name forever."
5. Go and see the deeds of God, awesome in His deeds toward mankind.
6. He turned the sea into dry land; in the river they crossed by foot; there we rejoiced with Him.
7. With His might, He rules the world; His eyes oversee the nations; the rebellious ones will not exalt themselves, ever.
8. O peoples, bless our God, and make the voice of His praise heard.
9. He, Who kept our souls alive and did not let our foot falter.
10. For You tested us, O God; You refined us as though refining silver.
11. You brought us into a trap; You placed a chain on our loins.
12. You caused man to ride at our head; we came in fire and water, and You took us out to satiety.
13. I shall come to Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows,
14. Which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke in my distress.
15. Burnt offerings of fat animals I shall offer up to You with the burning of rams; I shall prepare cattle with he-goats forever.
16. Come, hearken and I shall tell all you who fear God what He did for my soul.
17. My mouth called out to Him, and He was exalted under my tongue.

17. Why do look with envy, O many peaked mountain, at the mountain which God desired for his abode? Truly the Lord will dwell there forever.
18. The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
19. You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive; you have received gifts from men; from the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

Psalm 69 - Tehillim translated into english
1. To the chief Musician, according to Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.
2. Save me, O God; for the waters have come up to my soul.
3. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me.
4. I am weary of my crying; my throat is parched; my eyes fail while I wait for my God.
5. Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; those who would destroy me, who are my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. What I did not steal, must I restore?
6. O God, you know my folly; and my sins are not hidden from you.
7. Let not those who wait on you, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake; let not those who seek you be ashamed for my sake, O God of Israel.
8. Because for your sake I have suffered insult; shame has covered my face.
9. I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother’s children.
10. For zeal for your house has consumed me; and the taunts of those who taunted you have fallen upon me.
11. When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that became a reproach to me.
12. I made sackcloth my clothing; and I became a proverb to them. 13. Those who sit in the gate speak against me; and I am the song of the drunkards.
14. But as for me, let my prayer be to you, O Lord, in an acceptable time; O God, in the greatness of your loving kindness answer me, in the truth of your salvation.
15. Rescue me from the mire, and do not let me sink; let me be saved from those who hate me, and from the deep waters.
16. Do not let the flood of water sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit shut her mouth over me.
17. Answer me, O Lord; for your loving kindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of your mercies.
18. And do not hide your face from your servant; for I am in trouble; answer me quickly.
19. Draw near to my soul, and redeem it; ransom me because of my enemies.
20. You know my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor; my adversaries are all before you.
21. Insults have broken my heart; and I am in despair; and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
22. And they gave me poison in my food; and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
23. Let their table become a snare before them; and when they are at peace, let it be a trap.
24. Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins shake continually.
25. Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your wrathful anger take hold of them.

Prayer After Reciting Sefer Tehillim - Tehillim translated into english
Amein. Selah! Come! Let us sing joyfully to Hashem, let us call out to the Rock of our Salvation, Let us greet Him with thanksgiving, with praiseful songs let us call out to Him. For a great G-d is Hashem, and a great King above all heavenly powers.
