{א} שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת לִשְׁלֹמֹה אִם יְהוָה לֹא יִבְנֶה בַיִת שָׁוְא עָמְלוּ בוֹנָיו בּוֹ אִם יְהוָה לֹא יִשְׁמָר עִיר שָׁוְא שָׁקַד שׁוֹמֵר:
{ב} שָׁוְא לָכֶם מַשְׁכִּימֵי קוּם מְאַחֲרֵי שֶׁבֶת אֹכְלֵי לֶחֶם הָעֲצָבִים כֵּן יִתֵּן לִידִידוֹ שֵׁנָא:
{ג} הִנֵּה נַחֲלַת יְהוָה בָּנִים שָׂכָר פְּרִי הַבָּטֶן:
{ד} כְּחִצִּים בְּיַד גִּבּוֹר כֵּן בְּנֵי הַנְּעוּרִים:
{ה} אַשְׁרֵי הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר מִלֵּא אֶת אַשְׁפָּתוֹ מֵהֶם לֹא יֵבֹשׁוּ כִּי יְדַבְּרוּ אֶת אוֹיְבִים בַּשָּׁעַר:
{א} שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּֽעֲל֗וֹת לִשְׁלֹ֫מֹ֥ה אִם־יְהוָ֤ה ׀ לֹא־יִבְנֶ֬ה בַ֗יִת שָׁ֤וְא ׀ עָמְל֣וּ בוֹנָ֣יו בּ֑וֹ אִם־יְהוָ֥ה לֹֽא־יִשְׁמָר־עִ֝֗יר שָׁ֤וְא ׀ שָׁקַ֬ד שׁוֹמֵֽר׃
{ב} שָׁ֤וְא לָכֶ֨ם ׀ מַשְׁכִּ֪ימֵי ק֡וּם מְאַֽחֲרֵי־שֶׁ֗בֶת אֹ֭כְלֵי לֶ֣חֶם הָעֲצָבִ֑ים כֵּ֤ן יִתֵּ֖ן לִֽידִיד֣וֹ שֵׁנָֽא׃
{ג} הִנֵּ֤ה נַחֲלַ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה בָּנִ֑ים שָׂ֝כָ֗ר פְּרִ֣י הַבָּֽטֶן׃
{ד} כְּחִצִּ֥ים בְּיַד־גִּבּ֑וֹר כֵּ֝֗ן בְּנֵ֣י הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃
{ה} אַשְׁרֵ֤י הַגֶּ֗בֶר אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּ֥א אֶת־אַשְׁפָּת֗וֹ מֵ֫הֶ֥ם לֹֽא־יֵבֹ֑שׁוּ כִּֽי־יְדַבְּר֖וּ אֶת־אוֹיְבִ֣ים בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃
Tehillim 127 : Transliteration
Shir hamaalot lishlomô, im Adonai lo yivne váyit, shav amelu vonav bo, im Adonai lo yishmor ir, shav shacad shomer
Shav lachem mashkíme cum, meacharê shévet, ochelê léchem haatsavim, ken yiten lidido shena
Hine nachalat Adonai banim, sachar peri habáten
Kechitsim beiad guibor, ken benê haneurim
Ashrê haguéver asher mile et ashpato mehem, lo ievôshu ki iedabru et oievim basháar
Tehillim 127 - Tehillim translated into english
1. A Song of Maalot for Solomon. Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain!
2. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of toil; for truly to his beloved he gives sleep!
3. Behold, children are a heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is a reward!
4. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are the children of one’s youth!
5. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be put to shame, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate!

King David instructs his generation, and especially his son Solomon, to be sure that all one's actions be for the sake of Heaven. He also criticizes those who toil day and night in pursuit of a livelihood.
