Tehillim 30 - Tehillim translated into english
1. A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house; of David. 2. I will extol you, O Lord; for you have lifted me up, and have not made my enemies rejoice over me. 3. O Lord my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me. 4. O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 5. Sing to the Lord, O you his pious ones, and give thanks to his holy name. 6. For his anger lasts but a moment; in his favor is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. 7. And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. 8. Lord, by your favor you have made stand as a strong mountain; you hid your face, and I was frightened. 9. I cried to you, O Lord; and to the Lord I made supplication. 10. What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth? 11. Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me; Lord, be my helper. 12. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 13. To the end that my glory may sing praise to you, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

Description / commentaries - Tehillim 30
This psalm teaches one not to be distressed if God visits suffering upon him in this world, for only through suffering can one enter the World to Come. Even one of great spiritual stature should realize that his stability is not guaranteed, but that all is in the hands of God.
