Rabbi ya'akov omer. Ha'olam hazzeh domeh lapperozedor bifnei ha'olam habba. Hatken atzmecha vapperozedor, kedei shettikkanes latteraklin.

Rabbi Jacob said: this world is like a vestibule before the world to come; prepare yourself in the vestibule, so that you may enter the banqueting-hall.

R. Yaakov says: This world is like a corridor to the world to come. Ready yourself in the corridor so that you merit entering the palace [of the King].
