{ב} בְּקָרְאִי עֲנֵנִי אֱלֹהֵי צִדְקִי בַּצָּר הִרְחַבְתָּ לִּי חָנֵּנִי וּשְׁמַע תְּפִלָּתִי:
{ג} בְּנֵי אִישׁ עַד מֶה כְבוֹדִי לִכְלִמָּה תֶּאֱהָבוּן רִיק תְּבַקְשׁוּ כָזָב סֶלָה:
{ד} וּדְעוּ כִּי הִפְלָה יְהוָה חָסִיד לוֹ יְהוָה יִשְׁמַע בְּקָרְאִי אֵלָיו:
{ה} רִגְזוּ וְאַל תֶּחֱטָאוּ אִמְרוּ בִלְבַבְכֶם עַל מִשְׁכַּבְכֶם וְדֹמּוּ סֶלָה:
{ו} זִבְחוּ זִבְחֵי צֶדֶק וּבִטְחוּ אֶל יְהוָה:
{ז} רַבִּים אֹמְרִים מִי יַרְאֵנוּ טוֹב נְסָה עָלֵינוּ אוֹר פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה:
{ח} נָתַתָּה שִׂמְחָה בְלִבִּי מֵעֵת דְּגָנָם וְתִירוֹשָׁם רָבּוּ:
{ט} בְּשָׁלוֹם יַחְדָּו אֶשְׁכְּבָה וְאִישָׁן כִּי אַתָּה יְהוָה לְבָדָד לָבֶטַח תּוֹשִׁיבֵנִי:

1. To the chief Musician for stringed instruments, A Psalm of David.
2. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
3. O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah.
4. But know that the Lord has set apart the pious man for himself; the Lord will hear when I call to him.
5. Tremble, and do not sin; talk with your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.
6. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
7. There are many who say, Who will show us good? Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us.
8. You have put more gladness in my heart than they have whose grain and wine are increased.
9. I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone make me, Lord, dwell in safety.

Psalm 5

{א} לַמְנַצֵּחַ אֶל הַנְּחִילוֹת מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד:
{ב} אֲמָרַי הַאֲזִינָה יְהוָה בִּינָה הֲגִיגִי:
{ג} הַקְשִׁיבָה לְקוֹל שַׁוְעִי מַלְכִּי וֵאלֹהָי כִּי אֵלֶיךָ אֶתְפַּלָּל:
{ד} יְהוָה בֹּקֶר תִּשְׁמַע קוֹלִי בֹּקֶר אֶעֱרָךְ לְךָ וַאֲצַפֶּה:
{ה} כִּי לֹא אֵל חָפֵץ רֶשַׁע אָתָּה לֹא יְגֻרְךָ רָע:
{ו} לֹא יִתְיַצְּבוּ הוֹלְלִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינֶיךָ שָׂנֵאתָ כָּל פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן:

{ח} וַאֲנִי בְּרֹב חַסְדְּךָ אָבוֹא בֵיתֶךָ אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל הֵיכַל קָדְשְׁךָ בְּיִרְאָתֶךָ:
{ט} יְהוָה נְחֵנִי בְצִדְקָתֶךָ לְמַעַן שׁוֹרְרָי (הושר) הַיְשַׁר לְפָנַי דַּרְכֶּךָ:

2. Give ears to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
3. Listen to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for to you I will pray.
4. You shall hear my voice in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer to you, and will look up.
5. For you are not a God who has pleasure in wickedness; nor shall evil dwell with you.
6. The foolish shall not stand in your sight; you hate all evil doers.
7. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord will loathe the bloody and deceitful man.
8. But as for me, I will come into your house in the multitude of your love; and in your fear I will worship toward your holy temple.
9. Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before my face.
10. For there is no truth in their mouth; in their heart there is wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.
11. Condemn them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against you.
12. But let all those who put their trust in you rejoice; let them always shout for joy, because you defend them; let those who love your name be joyful in you.
13. For you, Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor you will cover him as with a shield.

Psalm 8

{א} לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל הַגִּתִּית מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד:
{ב} יְהוָה אֲדֹנֵינוּ מָה אַדִּיר שִׁמְךָ בְּכָל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תְּנָה הוֹדְךָ עַל הַשָּׁמָיִם:
{ג} מִפִּי עוֹלְלִים וְיֹנְקִים יִסַּדְתָּ עֹז לְמַעַן צוֹרְרֶיךָ לְהַשְׁבִּית אוֹיֵב וּמִתְנַקֵּם:

2. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who has set your glory above the heavens.
3. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings you have founded strength because of your enemies, that you might still the enemy and the avenger.
4. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have established;
5. What is man, that you are mindful of him? And the son of man, that you visit him?
6. For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and have crowned him with glory and honor.
7. You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet;
8. All sheep and oxen, and the beasts of the field;
9. The bird of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
10. O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

2. May the Lord hear you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob defend you!
3. May he send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion!
4. May he remember all your offerings, and accept with favor your burnt sacrifice! Selah.
5. May he grant you your heart’s desire, and fulfil all your plans!
6. May we rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfil all your petitions!
7. Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
8. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
9. They are brought down and fall; but we shall rise, and stand upright.
10. Save, Lord; the king will answer us on the day when we call.

1. A Psalm of David. Do not fret because of the wicked, nor be envious against the evil doers.
2. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.
3. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and enjoy security.
4. Delight yourself also in the Lord; and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
5. Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6. And he shall bring forth your righteousness like the light, and your judgment like the noonday.
7. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret yourself over him who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil schemes.
8. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret yourself; it comes only to evil.
9. For evil doers shall be cut off; but those who wait upon the Lord shall inherit the earth.
10. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; though you look well at his place, he will not be there.
11. But the humble shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12. The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.
13. The Lord shall laugh at him; for he sees that his day is coming.
14. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to bring down the poor and needy, and to slay those who are of upright ways.
15. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16. A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked men.
17. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18. The Lord knows the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be forever.
19. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20. But the wicked shall perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the meadows; they shall be consumed; they shall pass away like smoke.
21. The wicked borrows, and does not pay back; but the righteous man gives with good loving kindness.
22. For those blessed by him shall inherit the earth; and those cursed by him shall be cut off.
23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delights in his way.
24. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
25. I have been young, and I am now old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26. He lends generously at all times; and his seed is blessed.
27. Depart from evil, and do good; and you shall abide for ever.
28. For the Lord loves justice, and does not forsake his pious ones; they are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it for ever.
30. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.
31. The Torah of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall falter.
32. The wicked man watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.
33. The Lord will not abandon him to his own hand, nor let him be condemned when he is brought to trial.
34. Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
35. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green tree.
36. Yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not; I sought him, but he could not be found.
37. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace.
38. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.
39. And the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord; he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40. And the Lord shall help them, and rescue them; he shall rescue them from the wicked, and save them, because they take refuge in him.
