{א} לְדָוִד מַשְׂכִּיל אַשְׁרֵי נְשׂוּי פֶּשַׁע כְּסוּי חֲטָאָה:
{ב} אַשְׁרֵי אָדָם לֹא יַחְשֹׁב יְהוָה לוֹ עָוֹן וְאֵין בְּרוּחוֹ רְמִיָּה:
{ג} כִּי הֶחֱרַשְׁתִּי בָּלוּ עֲצָמָי בְּשַׁאֲגָתִי כָּל הַיּוֹם:
{ד} כִּי יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה תִּכְבַּד עָלַי יָדֶךָ נֶהְפַּךְ לְשַׁדִּי בְּחַרְבֹנֵי קַיִץ סֶלָה:
{ה} חַטָּאתִי אוֹדִיעֲךָ וַעֲוֹנִי לֹא כִסִּיתִי אָמַרְתִּי אוֹדֶה עֲלֵי פְשָׁעַי לַיהוָה וְאַתָּה נָשָׂאתָ עֲוֹן חַטָּאתִי סֶלָה:
{ו} עַל זֹאת יִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל חָסִיד אֵלֶיךָ לְעֵת מְצֹא רַק לְשֵׁטֶף מַיִם רַבִּים אֵלָיו לֹא יַגִּיעוּ:
{ז} אַתָּה סֵתֶר לִי מִצַּר תִּצְּרֵנִי רָנֵּי פַלֵּט תְּסוֹבְבֵנִי סֶלָה:
{ח} אַשְׂכִּילְךָ וְאוֹרְךָ בְּדֶרֶךְ זוּ תֵלֵךְ אִיעֲצָה עָלֶיךָ עֵינִי:
{ט} אַל תִּהְיוּ כְּסוּס כְּפֶרֶד אֵין הָבִין בְּמֶתֶג וָרֶסֶן עֶדְיוֹ לִבְלוֹם בַּל קְרֹב אֵלֶיךָ:
{י} רַבִּים מַכְאוֹבִים לָרָשָׁע וְהַבּוֹטֵחַ בַּיהוָה חֶסֶד יְסוֹבְבֶנּוּ:
{יא} שִׂמְחוּ בַיהוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל יִשְׁרֵי לֵב:

1. A Psalm of David, A Maskil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2. Happy is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3. When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5. I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord; and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6. For this shall every one who is pious pray to you in a time when you may be found; then surely the floods of great waters shall not come near him.
7. You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9. Do not be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they do not come near you.
10. Many are the sorrows of the wicked; but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in the Lord.
11. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.

Psalm 38

{א} מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד לְהַזְכִּיר:
{ב} יְהוָה אַל בְּקֶצְפְּךָ תוֹכִיחֵנִי וּבַחֲמָתְךָ תְיַסְּרֵנִי:
{ג} כִּי חִצֶּיךָ נִחֲתוּ בִי וַתִּנְחַת עָלַי יָדֶךָ:
{ד} אֵין מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִי מִפְּנֵי זַעְמֶךָ אֵין שָׁלוֹם בַּעֲצָמַי מִפְּנֵי חַטָּאתִי:
{ה} כִּי עֲוֹנֹתַי עָבְרוּ רֹאשִׁי כְּמַשָּׂא כָבֵד יִכְבְּדוּ מִמֶּנִּי:
{ו} הִבְאִישׁוּ נָמַקּוּ חַבּוּרֹתָי מִפְּנֵי אִוַּלְתִּי:
{ז} נַעֲוֵיתִי שַׁחֹתִי עַד מְאֹד כָּל הַיּוֹם קֹדֵר הִלָּכְתִּי:
{ח} כִּי כְסָלַי מָלְאוּ נִקְלֶה וְאֵין מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִי:
{ט} נְפוּגוֹתִי וְנִדְכֵּיתִי עַד מְאֹד שָׁאַגְתִּי מִנַּהֲמַת לִבִּי:
{י} אֲדֹנָי נֶגְדְּךָ כָל תַּאֲוָתִי וְאַנְחָתִי מִמְּךָ לֹא נִסְתָּרָה:
{יא} לִבִּי סְחַרְחַר עֲזָבַנִי כֹחִי וְאוֹר עֵינַי גַּם הֵם אֵין אִתִּי:
{יב} אֹהֲבַי וְרֵעַי מִנֶּגֶד נִגְעִי יַעֲמֹדוּ וּקְרוֹבַי מֵרָחֹק עָמָדוּ:
{יג} וַיְנַקְשׁוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי וְדֹרְשֵׁי רָעָתִי דִּבְּרוּ הַוּוֹת וּמִרְמוֹת כָּל הַיּוֹם יֶהְגּוּ:
{יד} וַאֲנִי כְחֵרֵשׁ לֹא אֶשְׁמָע וּכְאִלֵּם לֹא יִפְתַּח פִּיו:
{טו} וָאֱהִי כְּאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא שֹׁמֵעַ וְאֵין בְּפִיו תּוֹכָחוֹת:
{טז} כִּי לְךָ יְהוָה הוֹחָלְתִּי אַתָּה תַעֲנֶה אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהָי:
{יז} כִּי אָמַרְתִּי פֶּן יִשְׂמְחוּ לִי בְּמוֹט רַגְלִי עָלַי הִגְדִּילוּ:
{יח} כִּי אֲנִי לְצֶלַע נָכוֹן וּמַכְאוֹבִי נֶגְדִּי תָמִיד:
{יט} כִּי עֲוֹנִי אַגִּיד אֶדְאַג מֵחַטָּאתִי:
{כ} וְאֹיְבַי חַיִּים עָצֵמוּ וְרַבּוּ שֹׂנְאַי שָׁקֶר:
{כא} וּמְשַׁלְּמֵי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה יִשְׂטְנוּנִי תַּחַת (רדופי) רָדְפִי טוֹב:
{כב} אַל תַּעַזְבֵנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהַי אַל תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי:

1. A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. 2. O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger; nor chasten me in your wrath.
3. For your arrows stick fast in me, and your hand presses me hard.
4. There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger; nor is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
5. For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
6. My wounds grow foul and fester because of my foolishness.
7. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
8. For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.
9. I am feeble and crushed; I groan because of the tumult of my heart.
10. Lord, all my desire is before you; and my sighing is not hidden from you.
11. My heart throbs, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
12. My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand far away.
13. Those who seek after my life lay snares for me; and those who seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and plot deceits all the day long.
14. But I am like a deaf man who does not hear; I am like a dumb man who does not open his mouth.
15. Thus I was like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth there are no rebukes.
16. For in you, O Lord, I hope; you will answer, O Lord my God.
17. For I said, Lest they should rejoice over me; when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me.
18. For I am ready to fall, and my pain is continually before me.
19. For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
20. But my living enemies are strong; and those who hate me wrongfully are many.
21. Those who render me evil for good are my adversaries because I follow after good.
22. Do not forsake me, O Lord! O my God, do not be far from me!
23. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation!

Psalm 70

{א} לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְדָוִד לְהַזְכִּיר:
{ב} אֱלֹהִים לְהַצִּילֵנִי יְהוָה לְעֶזְרָתִי חוּשָׁה:
{ג} יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי יִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר וְיִכָּלְמוּ חֲפֵצֵי רָעָתִי:
{ד} יָשׁוּבוּ עַל עֵקֶב בָּשְׁתָּם הָאֹמְרִים הֶאָח הֶאָח:
{ה} יָשִׂישׂוּ וְיִשְׂמְחוּ בְּךָ כָּל מְבַקְשֶׁיךָ וְיֹאמְרוּ תָמִיד יִגְדַּל אֱלֹהִים אֹהֲבֵי יְשׁוּעָתֶךָ:

1. To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.
2. Make haste, O God, to save me; make haste to help me, O Lord.
3. Let those who seek after my soul be ashamed and confounded; let those who desire my harm be turned backward, and put to confusion.
4. Let those who say Aha, aha, be turned back, because of their shame;
5. Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; and let those who love your salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
6. But I am poor and needy; make haste to me, O God; you are my help and my savior; O Lord, delay not.

Psalm 71

{א} בְּךָ יְהוָה חָסִיתִי אַל אֵבוֹשָׁה לְעוֹלָם:
{ב} בְּצִדְקָתְךָ תַּצִּילֵנִי וּתְפַלְּטֵנִי הַטֵּה אֵלַי אָזְנְךָ וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי:
{ג} הֱיֵה לִי לְצוּר מָעוֹן לָבוֹא תָּמִיד צִוִּיתָ לְהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי כִּי סַלְעִי וּמְצוּדָתִי אָתָּה:

1. In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to confusion.
2. Save me in your righteousness, and cause me to escape; incline your ear to me, and save me.
3. Be my strong habitation, to which I may continually resort, which you have appointed to save me; for you are my rock and my fortress.
4. Save me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5. For you are my hope, O Lord God; you are my trust from my youth.
6. By you have I been sustained from the womb; you are he who took me from my mother’s bowels; my praise is continually of you.
7. I am a wonder to many; but you are my strong refuge.
8. Let my mouth be filled with your praise and with your honor all the day.
9. Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength fails.
10. For my enemies speak against me; and those who watch for my soul consult together,
11. Saying, God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him; for there is none to save him.
12. O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me.
13. Let those who are adversaries to my soul be put to shame and consumed; let those who seek my hurt be covered with reproach and dishonor.
14. But I will hope continually, and will yet praise you more and more.
15. My mouth shall declare your righteousness and your salvation all day; for their numbers is past my knowledge.
16. I will come to celebrate the mighty acts of the Lord God; I will mention your righteousness, yours alone.
17. O God, you have taught me from my youth; and I still declare your wondrous deeds.
18. And also now when I am old and grey haired, O God, do not forsake me; till I proclaim your might to this generation, and your power to every one who is to come.
19. Your righteousness also, O God, reaches the high heavens; you have done great things; O God, who is like you!
20. You, who have shown me many and grievous troubles, restore me back to life, and bring me back from the depths of the earth.
21. Increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
22. I also will praise you with the harp, speaking of your truth, O my God; to you I will sing with the lyre, O you Holy One of Israel.
23. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to you; and my soul, which you have redeemed.
24. My tongue also shall declare your righteousness all the day long; for those who seek my harm are confounded, they are brought to shame.

{א} שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד לוּלֵי יְהוָה שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ יֹאמַר נָא יִשְׂרָאֵל:
{ב} לוּלֵי יְהוָה שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ בְּקוּם עָלֵינוּ אָדָם:
{ג} אֲזַי חַיִּים בְּלָעוּנוּ בַּחֲרוֹת אַפָּם בָּנוּ:
{ד} אֲזַי הַמַּיִם שְׁטָפוּנוּ נַחְלָה עָבַר עַל נַפְשֵׁנוּ:
{ה} אֲזַי עָבַר עַל נַפְשֵׁנוּ הַמַּיִם הַזֵּידוֹנִים:

1. A Song of Maalot of David. If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, let Israel now say;
2. If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us;
3. Then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;
4. Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul;
5. Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul!
6. Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth!
7. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!
8. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
