{א} לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד:
{ב} חַלְּצֵנִי יְהוָה מֵאָדָם רָע מֵאִישׁ חֲמָסִים תִּנְצְרֵנִי:
{ג} אֲשֶׁר חָשְׁבוּ רָעוֹת בְּלֵב כָּל יוֹם יָגוּרוּ מִלְחָמוֹת:
{ד} שָׁנֲנוּ לְשׁוֹנָם כְּמוֹ נָחָשׁ חֲמַת עַכְשׁוּב תַּחַת שְׂפָתֵימוֹ סֶלָה:
{ה} שָׁמְרֵנִי יְהוָה מִידֵי רָשָׁע מֵאִישׁ חֲמָסִים תִּנְצְרֵנִי אֲשֶׁר חָשְׁבוּ לִדְחוֹת פְּעָמָי:
{ו} טָמְנוּ גֵאִים פַּח לִי וַחֲבָלִים פָּרְשׂוּ רֶשֶׁת לְיַד מַעְגָּל מֹקְשִׁים שָׁתוּ לִי סֶלָה:
{ז} אָמַרְתִּי לַיהוָה אֵלִי אָתָּה הַאֲזִינָה יְהוָה קוֹל תַּחֲנוּנָי:
{ח} יְהוִֹה [אומרים:
אלוהים] אֲדֹנָי עֹז יְשׁוּעָתִי סַכֹּתָה לְרֹאשִׁי בְּיוֹם נָשֶׁק:
{ט} אַל תִּתֵּן יְהוָה מַאֲוַיֵּי רָשָׁע זְמָמוֹ אַל תָּפֵק יָרוּמוּ סֶלָה:
{י} רֹאשׁ מְסִבָּי עֲמַל שְׂפָתֵימוֹ (יכסומו) יְכַסֵּמוֹ:
{יא} (ימיטו) יִמּוֹטוּ עֲלֵיהֶם גֶּחָלִים בָּאֵשׁ יַפִּלֵם בְּמַהֲמֹרוֹת בַּל יָקוּמוּ:
{יב} אִישׁ לָשׁוֹן בַּל יִכּוֹן בָּאָרֶץ אִישׁ חָמָס רָע יְצוּדֶנּוּ לְמַדְחֵפֹת:
{יג} (ידעת) יָדַעְתִּי כִּי יַעֲשֶׂה יְהוָה דִּין עָנִי מִשְׁפַּט אֶבְיֹנִים:
{יד} אַךְ צַדִּיקִים יוֹדוּ לִשְׁמֶךָ יֵשְׁבוּ יְשָׁרִים אֶת פָּנֶיךָ:

{ד} שָֽׁנֲנ֣וּ לְשׁוֹנָם֮ כְּֽמוֹ נָ֫חָ֥שׁ חֲמַ֥ת עַכְשׁ֑וּב תַּ֖חַת שְׂפָתֵ֣ימוֹ סֶֽלָה׃
{ה} שָׁמְרֵ֤נִי יְהוָ֨ה ׀ מִ֘ידֵ֤י רָשָׁ֗ע מֵאִ֣ישׁ חֲמָסִ֣ים תִּנְצְרֵ֑נִי אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָ֝שְׁב֗וּ לִדְח֥וֹת פְּעָמָֽי׃
{ו} טָֽמְנֽוּ־גֵאִ֨ים ׀ פַּ֡ח לִ֗י וַחֲבָלִ֗ים פָּ֣רְשׂוּ רֶ֭שֶׁת לְיַד־מַעְגָּ֑ל מֹקְשִׁ֖ים שָֽׁתוּ־לִ֣י סֶֽלָה׃

Tehillim 140 - Tehillim translated into English
1. To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
2. Save me, O Lord from the evil man; preserve me from the violent man;
3. Who plot evil plans in their heart; and stir up wars continually.
4. They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; spiders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.
5. Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who intend to trip up my feet.
6. Arrogant men have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah.
7. I said to the Lord, You are my God; hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.
8. O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle.
9. Do not grant, O Lord, the desires of the wicked man; do not further his evil plot; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
10. As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
11. Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, so that they should not rise up again.
12. Let not a slanderer be established in the earth; let evil hunt down the violent man to overthrow him.
13. I know that the Lord maintains the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
14. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence.
