Tehillim by Name: Psalm 119 by the Letters of the Name
Psalm 119 follows the Hebrew alphabet, with eight verses for each letter. For the healing of a sick person or the elevation of a departed soul, you read the verses for the letters of their Hebrew name, of “ben” or “bat” and of their mother's name; for the departed, the letters of נשמה (Neshama) are added.

Frequently asked questions
How do you read Psalm 119 by name?
Type the name in Hebrew letters and the mother's name: the site shows, in order, the eight verses of Psalm 119 for each letter, to be read one after the other. A letter that appears twice is read twice.
Who is it read for?
For a sick person (refuah shleimah) and for the departed: during the shiva, at the end of the thirty days, at the yahrzeit or when visiting the grave.
Why add Neshama?
For the departed, the verses of the letters נ, ש, מ, ה (Neshama, “soul”) are added, taken from the same psalm.
What about final letters?
They are read like the regular letter:
ץ = צ
ף = פ
ן = נ
ם = מ
ך = כ
The mother's name or the father's?
For a sick person, we pray with the mother's name. For the departed, customs vary: many Sephardim also use the mother's name, others the father's. If in doubt, ask your rabbi.
